We are students from Ascham School in Sydney who are very passionate about supporting sick Australian children. We want to help as many children as we can to forget about their illness and rediscover the joy of childhood. After a lot of research we decided the Starlight Children's Foundation was the right fit for our campaign.
How The Funds Will Be Used
Every dollar we raise will go directly to the Starlight Children's Foundation. We aim to raise $2500 which we want to use to fund the Starlight Express room at the Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick. This money would allow the room to stay open an extra hour each day for a whole school term. This room is a fun, medical free haven for sick children.
We have really tried hard to work together to develop a strong campaign. It has been a challenge to find common times for us to meet and discuss our ideas and work on our campaign. We all do extra-curricular activities at recess and lunchtimes so we had to develop our organisational skills to become more efficient. The use of an online SchoolAid community, through our school intranet, has allowed us to communicate at all times of the day and night and has assisted us greatly.
Another challenge was motivating our classmates to get involved. We have asked many ‘specialists’ to help out with various aspects of the campaign such as IT assistance and graphic design. This has allowed us to get more students involved and harness others strengths at the same time.
